How it all started

In June 2021, a young Woodlands family could not find the kind of care they wanted for their own children, so they built it. From day one Cuddly Bear was designed to feel like home, with familiar educators, mixed age play and plenty of time outdoors.

Five years on the philosophy has not changed. We still cap places at 35, we still know every family by name, and we still believe the best early learning happens slowly, in good company and close to nature.

Milestones along the way

A short timeline of the moments that shaped Cuddly Bear.

June 2021 Cuddly Bear opens

A young Woodlands family converts a much-loved local home into a 35-place long day care centre. Twelve children walk through the door on the first day.

2022 Our nature-play garden

We rebuild our outdoor program around vegetable beds, sandpits, a creek bed and a mud kitchen, planting trees that will shade the garden for decades to come.

2023 EYLF embedded

We complete a full curriculum refresh and align every room to the Early Years Learning Framework, with planning, documentation and reflection cycles for every child.
