Do excursions cost extra?
No. Local walks, library visits and incoming community visitors are all included in your daily fee. The only exception is the occasional major excursion (e.g. a farm visit with bus hire) — we always give 8 weeks notice and aim to keep any contribution under $15.

Do I have to give permission for each outing?
You’ll sign a blanket local-walk permission at orientation that covers walks within 1km of the centre. Any excursion beyond that — bus, farm, museum — requires a specific signed permission slip, sent home at least two weeks in advance.

What are your educator-to-child ratios on excursions?
We always exceed the regulatory minimum on outings. As a rough guide: 1:2 for babies and toddlers, and 1:4 for Pre-Kindy, plus a floating senior educator. Detailed risk assessments are completed before every excursion.

Which events can families attend?
Family morning teas, open evenings, cultural celebrations, parent-educator conversations and graduation are all family events. We also welcome parents and grandparents to drop in for special days like Mother’s Day, Father’s Day and NAIDOC Week.

Can I volunteer to help on an excursion?
Yes — extra hands are always welcome on bigger outings. We just need a valid Working with Children Check on file. Let your room educator know and they’ll add you to the next outing’s roster.

How do you decide which cultural celebrations to acknowledge?
We follow the families in our community. Every new family is asked about important cultural and religious days at orientation, and we add to our calendar each year. If we’re acknowledging your family’s celebration, we’ll always check first — never assume.
